Unique view, winery, truffle reserve, hilly farmstead to be restored and upgraded, featuring cellars and antique country buildings for sale in Siena. In one of the most fascinating landscapes of the Crete Senesi region, south of Siena, bordering Val D'Orcia Unesco Heritage site, with striking sceneries and open views as far as Montalcino, home of Brunello wines, and even the towers and bells of Siena. Over 192 acres (78 hectares) of land with lakes, forest, unique creeks, vineyards, olive groves and an ancient farm consisting of a central body with courtyard and attached farmhouses. Of medieval origins it was rebuilt in the 1800s as a convent until the middle of the last century when it was again converted for agricultural use. An area particularly suited to quality viticulture thanks to its microclimate. As early as 1695, from the register of seeds and harvests, the estate's manager declared the production of wine. There are currently 4.8 hectares devoted to wine production, as high as 475 meters above sea level, all certified organic since 2023 and cultivated with varieties of Sangiovese, Syrah, Canaiolo, Vermentino, Malvasia, Trebbiano and Verdea, with an annual production of some 30,000 bottles of IGT Toscana rich in character, along with grappa and rosé sparkling wines. Most of the wines produced are processed in barriques, tonneaux and French oak barrels, while a minor portion is processed in cement and steel tanks. Olive oil production is a flagship in the estate's history with authentic awards dating back to 1886. It cultivates over 1,500 olive trees including centuries-old trees and new plantings. Moraiolo, Leccino, Frantoio, Pendolino and Correggiolo are the different varieties making an intense and authentic flavor evo oil. The Crete Senesi region is privileged to offer one of the world's finest truffles, and the estate boasts more than 3 hectares with reserves of white, marzuolo (or bianchetto) and scorzone truffles, depending on seasonality. The farmstead include more than 26124 square feet (2400 sq m) of buildings all built with typical terracotta bricks from its own furnace, its ruins still remains with interesting volumes to be fully recovered. The courtyard houses an ancient well where to enjoy an endless enchanting view. The manor building includes a main residence, five holiday apartments and on the ground floor former warehouses and cellars, perfect to be converted to host events and tastings. A second building includes a vaulted ceilings cellar, storage rooms and two additional holiday apartments. Some upgrades have been carried out over time, yet all buildings are in need to be refurbished with an overall recovery development project (PMAA) in addition to the possibility of converting two of the buildings into a state-of-the-art winery facility and an aging cellar with original features. The Convent Winery and Farm offers excellent potentials with diversified productions from high quality wines, evo oil, arable crops and truffles to interesting buildings particularly suitable for both tourism hospitality (tastings, guided tours, educational activities, suites and apartments) and productive purposes. On the road leading to the Abbey of Monte Oliveto Maggiore, just 1.7 km away, a splendid Benedictine architectural example from the 1300s with cloister, church and frescoes by important medieval masters and Renaissance artists attracting visitors and pilgrims every year. Even today it is still possible to attend regular masses with Gregorian carols.
