Bereits im 3. Jahrhundert gab es in der Stadt eine organisierte christliche Gemeinde und einen frühchristlichen Kirchenkomplex. Die christliche Gemeinschaft verschwand während der Herrschaft des Kaisers Diokletian fast vollständig, als der Porečer Märtyrer St. Mauro und St. Eleutheria. St. Der Legende nach wurde Eleutherije an einen Stein gebunden und in der Bucht von Peškera ins Meer geworfen. Heute steht direkt neben der Bucht eine kleine Kirche St. Eleutheria aus dem 15. Poreč je naseljen još od prapovijesti. Tijekom 2. stoljeća prije Krista, rimski je castrum podignut na sitnom poluotoku, koji je bio 400 m dug i 200 m širok, i na kojem danas stoji jezgra staroga grada. Za vrijeme vladavine cara Augusta u 1. stoljeću, castrum je službeno proglašen gradom i uključen u rimsku koloniju Colonia Iulia Parentium. U vrijeme Rima Poreč dobiva svoje prve zidine, cijeli grad je obzidan osim zapadne strane odnosno vrha poluotoka gdje se nalazio Neptunov ili Jupiterov hram. U 3. stoljeću grad je već imao organiziranu kršćansku zajednicu i ranokršćanski crkveni kompleks. Kršćanska zajednica je gotovo potpuno nestala u vrijeme cara Dioklecijana kada stradavaju i porečki mučenici sv. Mauro i sv. Eleuterije. Sv. Eleuterije je prema predanju zavezan za kamen i bačen u more u uvali Peškera. Danas se odmah uz zaljev nalazi crkvica Sv. Eleuterije iz 15. stoljeća

La casa è stata costruita su un terreno di 710 mq ed è composta da un piano terra e un piano superiore e un giardino recintato e paesaggistico di 583 mq. Quattro camere da letto, tre bagni, una cucina, un soggiorno con camino e mobili tradizionali accuratamente selezionati conferiscono a questa proprietà una vera atmosfera mediterranea. Nel II secolo a.C. il castrum romano fu costruito su una piccola penisola lunga 400 me larga 200 m, sulla quale oggi sorge il nucleo della città vecchia. Durante il regno dell'imperatore Augusto nel I secolo, il castrum fu ufficialmente dichiarato città e compreso nella colonia romana Colonia Iulia Parentium. In epoca romana Parenzo venne dotata delle prime mura, l'intera città fu murata tranne il lato occidentale, cioè la parte superiore della penisola, dove si trovava il tempio di Nettuno o Giove. Nel III secolo la città aveva già una comunità cristiana organizzata e un complesso ecclesiastico paleocristiano. La comunità cristiana scomparve quasi completamente durante il regno dell'imperatore Diocleziano, quando i martiri parenzani S. Mauro e S. Eleuteria. S. Secondo la leggenda Eleutherije fu legato ad una pietra e gettato in mare nella baia di Peškera. Oggi, proprio accanto alla baia, si trova la piccola chiesa di S.
